True Blood Episode 308: Night on the Sun

What was up with the Bill and Sookie photo album? Kind of lame… but moving on…at the beginning of the episode I thought it might be over with them for a while at least, but I guess you can’t keep true love apart, even if it’s a bad idea for them both. Not that Sookie could somehow stay out of trouble without him…

I’m glad that Bill is finally starting to take care of Jessica. She really needs him. Eric and Pam seem to have a great relationship and if Bill could think of the future he would realize that having a good companion makes eternity much more bearable.

Tara is back to being just annoying. It’s not entirely her fault with all that’s happened to her. But I wish it would bring her and Sookie together as the best friends they are supposed to be, all they do is fight.

I was sad to see Alcide go…hopefully it won’t be for long. They definitely could make a great couple.

We lost one crazy ex in the last episode with the loss of the cunning and crazy Lorena, but still have Debbie. She’s just dumb crazy which isn’t as fun.

Jason got a lot more then be bargained for with Crystal. Don’t think the pack is going to just let her go. He is going to have a fight on his hands and Jason is just too human and stupid to win. Would someone please take away all of his guns! After what happened with Eggs, you’d think he’d think twice before waving a gun around someone else.

Looks like our suspicions were confirmed that Arlene’s baby is Rene’s. And that he was in the preview, those damn dream sequences get you every time ;)

You can take Tommy out of the fight but you can’t take the fight out of Tommy. That boy is going to be a pain! But looks like things are going to get rough with the new hillbilly weres in town.

That was a bold move Eric made killing Talbot! Can’t wait to see how that’s going to play out. The king seems incredibly powerful, so how is Eric going to avoid being implicated in his murder? If Russell knows that Eric murdered Talbot, he will be going after him with no mercy. Eric’s first act of revenge seemed well calculated. He wants Russell to suffer the way he suffered by watching his family die. But even with revenge consuming his actions, Eric still managed to try and help Sookie.

It looks like we’re going to have the big reveal of what Sookie really is in next week’s episode. My question is, how is Sookie going to take it? With Eric’s warning for Sookie not to trust Bill, does that mean that Bill could ultimately be after Sookie’s light? It seems like he truly loves her, so I’d be very surprised and disappointed to find out he’s been playing her the whole time.

Lafayette’s mother is being presented as crazy, but I believe her talk of witches and vampires being after him could be true. Let’s not forget that Merlotte’s just hired a new waitress and that’s never works out well. She did know that Arlene was pregnant which almost no one knows. I smell a witch!

Looking forward to the next episode as the countdown to the season finale begins. We only have four episodes left!

What do you guys think Sookie is? Vote on our poll or leave a comment and let us know!

crazy good episode, but only towards the end. I felt the show slowing done, with too much building going on at first. it did take care of my desire for bloodshed and action at the end. and eric taking revenge, awesome! sookie looked delectable in that closing scene with bill. I'm kind of disappointed they made up (even if it's only temporary or not).

sookie? she's got to be some kind of fairy or nymph, or whatever mythical creature glows (I think of Tinker Bell all the time, but that's just me because I have a 5 year old with an entire room decorated in Tinker Bell stuff).

Oh, and that's now 2 bodies for Jessica, my awesome baby vamp. Loved that she was training. I was afraid we were going to lose her for a minute when Russel grabbed her.

The show is so different from the books, and I'm hoping that allows room for more Alcide! I wouldn't complain.

I'm curious to see what happens with Debbie and the King...

Holly (the new waitress) is obviously a witch but I'm not sure what's up with this "power" that Lafayette is supposed to have. I HATE that Bill and Sookie got back together so soon. I mean, really, they could't give us at least one episode where they're not together?! I wanted a little more Alcide/Sookie chemistry. Maybe Bill is after her light and that's why Eric said not to trust him; maybe that's what's gonna cause another break up before next season. And that photo album... just plain stupid. I can't get why Sookie just let Debbie go (I mean, you have to know she's not going away) and I too am curious how Eric is going to get away with killing Talbot.

does anyone have any idea why Eric and the Queen have been bleeding from their ears and nose the last 2 episodes?

Anonymous said...

They bleed from their ears and noses when they have a lack of sleep during the day. They had been staying up longer than they should, so that is why they bled.

I noticed that too; Tommy is my boy!!!! he is not to be taken lightly...he may get in the way though. I wonder are we gonna see mom and dad again anytime soon??? Eric surprised me last night, but he is doing whatever it takes and I cant be mad at him for that. Tara...there are no words. That girls is a mess!!! So much is going to come out next week, i assume alot of our questions will be answered. The fact that Bill has know all this time what Sookie is going to cause a problem between them...for good reasons...his motives are/were not pure. I dont understand how this could be renee's baby, I though to much time had past. Mark my words what Layfette's mom is saying is truth, that new boyfriend of his is TROUBLE...notice how he was on the phone and they quickly got off once he Layfette entered the room.. they didnt show that for no reason. Cant wait till next week!!!

Alcide will def be back for some more Sookie, I was just waitingggg for the kiss and knew it wasnt going to happen just yet. But I'm hoping before the season runs out! Okay heres my guess with Sookie, so she has the ability to turn vampires back into humans, I think the Queen had made Bill watch over her for whatever reasons that may be, and he truly wound up falling in love with her. So now that Eric finds out - knowing that Bill is a self-hater and would love to be human again, he assumes Bill is "pretending" to love her so that he can "steal her light".
And where is Taras love bird Franklin, god I enjoyed him!
Kudos to Eric for the Talbot killing, and not knowingly saving Bill. And as for Sam and Tommy, I love that they can smell trouble walking in the door. I'm excited to see how that plays out.
Oh and last but not least, I don't think Arlene REMEMBERS having all that sex with Terry during the Maryanne escapades.. I pray its not Rene's kid. Heres to the next four episodes!
p.s. LOVED jessicas training scene, that rocked. and bring back hoyt!! love them together.

Alan Ball is overusing the dream sequences. Its too much speaking of which the Lafayette Jesus immediate fade to Talbot and Eric was too much.

Will Jason and Tommy go at each other's throats also seeing as Tommy already dislikes Hoyt and if there's one thing about Jason he is loyal to his friends.

So what type of shifters are the hillbillies. They are not wolves and not multi shifters like Sam. I think the hillbillies set the stage for next seasons story line .

I'm so glad you explained the ears and nose bleeding. I know what sookie is and I've read the books so I'll just leave it at that!

The Norris folks from Hotshot are big cat shifters. Sam and Tommy can smell their cat scents. Lafayette's mother Ruby Jean Reynolds when warning Lafayette someone was coming after him said, "the vampires, the witches, dogs, cats." Somehow she knows that there are werewolves, and big cat shifters around. The witches so far are Jesus, Holly, maybe the slightly sinister chicks at the bar cruising Tommy. Some might be good witches, some bad but we're going to hear about them SOON! Its really only been about 4 month's in BonTemps time. Renee was killed just as the maenad was getting going at the end of season 1 so it could be his baby. Maybe the creepiness is relating to the witches somehow? All this is going to tie in together.

For my money, this was a very weak episode. Too many story lines inching forward only a minute or two at a time, and too many lingering, mooning I-could-never-quit-you scenes or melodrama. (Tara! Enough with the quivering lip! I used to like your no-bs character.) I get that the melodrama's an important part of the show, but it's like a cake - it only works if you mix the ingredients right. This one had 15 cups of sugar (five different kinds), no flour, maybe a pat of butter, and about three chocolate chips.

Felt like they're slowing down the story lines so they can stretch out their material into more episodes.

The end! OMG hard core action. I didn't it to end but still wanted so badly for that fight to be over!!!! Loved Sookie vs Debbie!!!
So what won overall, the crying, the fighting, or the loving....http://www.weheart-tv for a play by play! AND be sure to stop by tomorrow! I talked to my fave mama's boy!!! He is a sweetheart!

I'm a little surprised that Bill would have so much trouble with one Werewolf, when he beat a whole group earlier in the season.

It will be interesting to see how Eric gets out of murdering Talbot, unless the King knowing has something to do with the overall plan...I dunno....Is it Sunday yet??!

Does the King have anymore family?

I'm actually more interested in how that turns out that the Bill/Sookie thing, though, that should be interesting too.

I know I'm not the only one who noticed the spin off of the Twilight Sagas, with the mind reading and werewolf and vampire falling in love with the girl. With that said, if they continue to add a little Twilight in the story, I think that Sookie is gonna be what ever the hell Bella was when she changed into a vamp. She was like a shield or something when ever she was pushed too far. Its just like Sookies light that comes from her hand, it shields her. I'm willing to bet that they won't tell us what she is in tonights episode. They are gonna leave us on the edge and make us wait.

FYI Shameka, True Blood is based on The Sookie Stackhouse Novels, which were published from 2001-present, they are now 10 books in, and lets see, Twilight came about in 2003, True Blood already had everything and Twilight spun off of that, making Edward a mind reader (Sookie was one first), Vampires and warewolves, True Blood had first, everything in Twilight has basically been ripped off from True Blood, with the exception of a few things. So comparing True Blood and Twilight and saying True Blood will go down the same path as Twilight, doesn't make sense, because the one that was here first, can't be a spin-off now can it? I don't wanna spoil anything but Sookie is far more than a "shield", she is supernatural status.

sorry if I came across as an ass but people annoy me who claim True Blood rips of Twilight when it would be the other way around. Research helps out. and IMO neither copy or spinoff from each other, with all the vampire stories as well as other movies, shows, songs, etc. out there, most of them are bound to be similar.

Wow I didn't know they had books, now thats another thing thats gonna take up my free time. I just got into True Blood this year so I had no clue. Although I still do believe Twilight is some what similiar apart from other vampire stories. But thanks for the insight I gotta go check out the books. Are they as good as the show?

@ Shameka, me again, no problem. Honestly I do not like to read, I have only read 3 books by free will. A Child Called It, The Outsiders, and Goosebumps' "Monster Blood", lol. I tried to read Dead Until Dark (the first of the True Blood books) and I only got to 130 pages before I gave up, not because it was bad, but because reading bores the heck out of me, and I prefer the show. You may think that the show is exactly taken from the book, but they change so much for the show, not gonna give spoilers but you will be surprised when reading the book as its like discovering it brand new. Now from what I read its one of the best books I've read (keep in mind I've only read 3 and Dead Until Dark almost became my 4th), it kept my attention for almost the whole thing and that's hard to do for me, I'm usually done after 5 pages of a book lol. So if you like to read and have the time for it better start now cause there are 10 for you to read :) Good luck!

Also for other people reading this I am not a nerd or anything or a burn out, based on the lack of books I've read, I am not a couch potatoe either, I just do other things with my time and books can't keep my attention.
