Episode 212: Beyond Here Lies Nothin
I did not expect that Maryann was going to use Sookie as her maid of honor, but I guess she wanted someone special (i.e. not human). Bill’s plan worked really well. It was intense, but it went off without a hitch. Sam ended up saving the day and the town. I thought it might take more than that to put end to Maryann, but she seemed pretty dead. Supernatural beings have a way of popping back up, though and Tara said she felt like it wasn’t really over. Jason and Andy weren’t very effective, but I’m not surprised, Jason was the leader. At least they pitched in at the end to help bring people home.
We have a partial answer to why Eric is having Lafayette push V and that’s the Queen. We still don’t know why she wants V to be sold and she feels that Bill Compton knowing about the V is a threat.
Bill’s evening with Sookie was very romantic. It was well planned from the beautiful dress he bought her to the proposal. I thought he was going to propose when he reached in his pocket, but then he pulled out a plane ticket. I was a bit thrown, but then he pulled out the ring like I thought he was going to do. I didn’t expect Sookie’s reaction, but I could understand it. Will Sookie think that Bill just left her or will she suspect that something else happened? Eric is the most logical person to be behind Bill’s disappearance. He told the queen that he would take care of Bill and with Bill being gone he will have a big opening into Sookie’s life.
Okay, what about Jessica? It seems like Hoyt was the only thing that let her hold on to her humanity, but what will happen when she sees the flowers he left her? It was so sweet that he came by to apologize. It was nice to see him really stand up to his mother and decide to take control of his life, but it seems like it might be too late for them.
Eggs was a very tragic character. He was the most used by Maryann and I don’t think he would have come to terms with the things he had done under her control. I was shocked to see Eggs not only get killed, but shot by Jason. Oh my god, what was he thinking?! Tara is not going to let Eggs’ death go. It seems like Tara can’t catch a break when it comes to love.
I think that Sam looking for his birth parents is going to be trouble next season. What kind of creatures gives birth to shape shifters? It will be interesting to learn more about them.
Overall, this season was very exciting and we got to know all the characters better, especially Eric and he’s going to have an even bigger role in season three as the love triangle strengthens. Can’t wait to find out what the new big bad “thing” is going to be and hopefully we’ve left the orgies behind for good!
So what did you guys think of the finale?
Thanks so much for following the blog. It’s been a lot of fun. We’ll keep posting things as we anxiously wait for season three to begin!

Episode 211: Frenzy
Okay, so this week’s episode wasn’t so great either. I was really hoping that we would start getting into the thick of things and see some serious stuff go down, but it seemed like more filler until the finale. Maybe the writers are really just trying to set up season 3. Only a few things of interest really happened. We got to meet the queen, who was cool and we found out a way to defeat Maryann.
It looks like Lafayette is having dreams about Eric too, which is something we’ve been wondering about.
Saving Tara was pointless. I’m really glad they went through all the trouble last week just so she could throw herself right back into harms way.
Sookie’s home felt like it was turned into a haunted house. Will she ever be able to get the creepiness out of the house once this is all over?
Will Bill’s threat keep Eric in check? I have my doubts, but why is Eric having humans sell V anyway? What’s he getting out of it? Can it really just be profit?
The writers better bring it during the finale or we’re going to be VERY disappointed.

Episode 210: New World in My View
Eric and Sookie together was a great opening and I loved the kiss that they shared. It showed just how much Sookie wants to comfort him. Sadly, it was just another wild dream. I can’t help feeling that there’s more to her dreams then her new desire for Eric. Maybe she can feel his emotions and they are subconsciously influencing her dreams.
Looks like Bon Temps got hit by Hurricane Maryann. And Sookie’s house has been turned into enemy headquarters. If there was any question about who attacked Sookie in the woods we now know for sure it was Maryann. Bill attacking and drinking her blood was not only useless but harmful. Looks like Bill will have to get some outside advice from the Queen on this one. How can she refuse to help him when he looks so hot in his leather jacket? From what we saw the Queen’s house totally rocked. And what’s up with Sookie’s new power? That was unexpected and cool. It looks like Sookie may have a bigger part to play in bringing down Maryann. Even Maryann doesn’t know what she is.
Jason has found his calling as a chainsaw toting, nail gun slinging mercenary. And when he was impersonating the god, I couldn’t stop laughing! The whole performance by him, Andy and Sam was so ridiculous and brilliant all at the same time. But hey, whatever works to get the possessed mob off your back.
I was so glad to see that they were able to save Tara but now of course she wants to help Eggs. Maybe that’s what Maryann was expecting when she said that she’d come back and bring the others.
Will Hoyt be able to stop Jessica from killing mommy dearest? And will he forgive her if she does? I honestly can’t blame her. That woman is hard to take even when she’s not possessed by an evil demon.
That episode was just too short, no really it was only 45 minutes. What the heck!

Episode 209: I Will Rise Up
This was an emotional episode.
Eric saved Sookie, just like we expected. Mischievous to the last though. I can’t believe how under handed he was in order to get to Sookie. He looked quite pleased with himself and enjoyed himself a little too much. It was awesome.
The dream…that was great. I guess that blood works fast. What I want to know is did Eric have the dream too? Was he part of the dream/controlling the dream? If he was then he didn’t let on. What did Eric mean by saying “this is only the beginning”? We don’t know the full effects of the blood, so maybe Eric could interact with her in a dream state.
Go Lafayette! I’ve never been gladder to see him and it was awesome to see him kick some ass! Hopefully, Lafayette and Tara’s mom will be able to help Tara. She is definitely far gone.
Looks like Sam just needed enough incentive to shift to get out of jail and Maryann is certainly that. It’s cool to see Sam use his powers to their full extent, but playing hide and seek with Maryann seems to be pissing her off more and she has the whole town at her disposal to find him. I wonder how Andy is going to help. He is definitely Sam’s only ally at the moment.
Seeing Eric breakdown was almost more than I could take. We’ve never seen him with so much emotion and it was unexpected. I was sad to see Godric go. I was hoping he would stick around and help the vampire community evolve. Two thousand years is a lot of knowledge to lose, but it seemed like it was what he truly wanted. It explains why he was willing to sacrifice himself to the Fellowship of the Sun. Sookie being there for Godric’s end will create a bond between her and Eric. At the very least, Eric will appreciate her for doing what he could not.
I can’t believe there are only three episodes left and it looks like the shit is going to hit the fan. Finally the Stackhouses and the vampires are going to get in the fight against Maryann. It’s going to be one hell of a confrontation. Is it next Sunday yet?

Episode 208: Timebomb
Wow, that was a great episode. I’m really loving Eric! His good ole boy routine was hilarious! I didn’t know Eric had that in him. And the way he is teasing Bill and Sookie, I just love the tension it’s creating for Bill and the curiosity that is brewing in Sookie. Jason really kicked ass!! The human saved the day! I guess Jason did “Grow a brain cell”. =)
Hunter SoufflĂ©, anyone? That was so disgusting! Maryann has hit a new low even for her and it’s only going to get worst. Whatever Lafayette saw in the Tarot cards has him seriously worried about Tara. It looks like it’s going to take him to pull her out of this mess, every time she starts to get close to the truth, she gets sucked in deeper.
Barry tastes different apparently… is that just from his ability to read minds or something else? Bill has never mentioned Sookie tasting different.
I feel SO bad for Jessica! What a nightmare having to relive your first time, EVERY time! By now don’t they have some experience, or at least a simple hand book “Things to do before you’re turned” It would be an F-ing best seller. Anyway there’s the wrench in Jessica and Hoyt’s relationship.
It looks like Maryann has been setting up Sam since the beginning of the season. Everything seemed to fall right into place. Bud was right. Jail probably is the safest place for him because Maryann doesn’t want Sam in jail. She wants him dead. Wasn’t expecting Andy to show up and try to defend him with his “drunken crazy talk”. Yea, real believable.
Three cheers for Sookie! She never backs down from a fight, even when it’s good for her health. She successfully put Lorena in her place with a little help from Godric.
Godric was a bit different than I was expecting. We knew he went with the humans for some reason since they couldn’t have taken him by force. Apparently, he feels that the vampires have brought the human hatred on themselves, by not evolving passed their savagery and learning to coexist. After witnessing the vampire mentality for over 2,000 years he has become sickened by the games and unnecessary bloodshed. He was beyond kind when dealing with Hugo and Steve Newlin. He is really trying to set an example for his people for a more meaningful existence. Let’s see if he feels the same way after the Lukeinater blows up his nest.
Will Eric save Sookie from the blast?
Hey Bill, by the way, was that hug okay?

Episode 207: Release Me
We got even more answers this episode. Maryann is a Maenad! A disciple of Dionysus, who is the god of excess and the bull head is a symbol of that god. She is able to incite hate and lust which we all know she is very good at. Maybe now that her identity is revealed we’ll move on from the sex scenes and get down to more interesting things.
We also found out that the traitor is Hugo. I didn’t see that one coming, but it always seems to be the quiet ones. He also unknowingly ratted out Jason. At least we got to see Jason defend Sookie. It’s the first smart thing we’ve seen him do since the season started. Sara looked so crazed when she went after Jason and shot him, but we if you saw the preview from Comic-Con (posted below) you know what happened there.
I was surprised to find out that Sookie can communicate telepathically over large distances. I didn’t know that her powers worked like that. Even more surprising is that Barry helped Sookie, but it seems like he got into some trouble now. He was pulled into a room by another vampire, but whom?
Andy didn’t fall under Maryann’s spell. Does that mean that he has supernatural powers? Daphne said that supernatural beings have immunity to her mind games. I was happy to see Daphne get her comeuppance, but why did Maryann choose Eggs to do her dirty work?
Unlike Bill, Eric is very attached to his maker. He doesn’t seem convinced that mere humans would be able to hold Godric.
Where did Godric come from? Why did he suddenly show up and help Sookie? Wasn’t he trapped by the Fellowship? I didn’t think that he’d be able to just move around of his own free will.
Looking forward to the war that’s going to breakout in next week’s episode. It will be nice to see the vampires kick some Fellowship of the Sun butt.

Episode 206: Hard-Hearted Hannah
We’ve hit that pivotal place in the season where we’ve got a lot of questions answered, but everyone’s in trouble and we have no idea how they’ll get out of it.
First we found out that Eric wants Bill out of the way, so he can get Sookie and Bill’s maker, Lorena is part of his plan. We also found out that Bill’s past is even more violent then we imagined. I for one did not think he was a psychopathic killer who likes to play with his food. It was really disturbing. But maybe his maker just brings that out in him.
Not only does the Fellowship of the Sun have Godric, but they also have an inside man. It’s looking like Stan (black cowboy hat wearing vampire) is the traitor, but I’m still suspicious of Isabel. Steve Newlin is becoming a zealot to the point where it’s frightening Sara and of course had to drag Jason in even deeper.
The mystery deepens with Eggs. Was he part of some ritual sacrifice? Did Maryann make him forget? As he finds out the truth, will his allegiance to Maryann falter? We now know that Daphne is the pig and has been working for Maryann. What is their game with Sam? The creature has come back into the story as Maryann donned the mask of a bull. Is this creature part of the ritual? Kind of tired of the orgy scenes. Hopefully, the show will get to the point.
The least complicated part of all of this is Jessica’s and Hoyt’s relationship. It’s refreshing to see two people just being together without being manipulated by the ulterior motives of others.
On a lighter note, Eric needs better taste in choosing his “freshies”. She was pathetic in her attempt in acting scared. I would never call Eric “baby”.

Episode 205: Never Let Me Go
Deer Daphne. That explains what’s up with her, but the scar is still a mystery. Sam seemed a bit too afraid after seeing Daphne shift. You’d think he’d never seen anything like it. ;-)
I was not expecting Maryann wanting to move in. It was awfully convenient that her home was all of the sudden borrowed. It’s possible that she was telling the truth, but I have my doubts. Was anyone else freaked out when Tara came home and found Maryann dressed like Gran and waiting up for her at the kitchen table reading a book? DĂ©jĂ vu, anyone? She’s really screwing with Tara and we found out that Maryann can create discord as well as lust.
I think Barry was a bit of a let down. I was hoping for more, but I suppose he could show up later. Did he just disappear to get away from Sookie or did something happen to him?
It was really interesting and fun to see Eric’s Viking back story. Eric had a lot of spirit before he was turned and a fan of the ladies. We had a strong suspicion that Godric was his maker and we were not disappointed. Eric is finally starting to have more depth now that we see he actually cares for someone other than himself.
The cracks are finally starting to show in the Newlin’s marriage and things are only going to escalate between Sara and Jason. It’s interesting to see that Steve is hiding things from Sara. So she may not know the true extent to which the church is working towards eradicating the vampires. It will be interesting to find out what Sookie will read from Sara in next week’s episode. Will she find out about Jason or will Jason see her and blow her cover?
In the episode preview, it seemed out of place to see a flash back to how Bill was turned. It became clear though when his maker showed up at the end of the episode. That does not bode well for Bill. She is definitely going to be a problem.

Lafayette's Dance
I really couldn't help myself - I had to post this scene from this week's True Blood episode!
It's great to see Lafayette outside the vampire dungeon dancing around and humping everything!

Episode 204: Shake and Fingerpop
So obviously Mariann is somehow connected with the creature. It looks like she might even be able to turn into one. I'm leaning more towards that she can control it though. Whatever she's doing, her powers seem to increase with the lust of the people around her. On a slightly different topic, I wasn't surprised that Mariann removed the present from Tara's mom, but I think that Tara will find it eventually. Mariann is definitely trying to separate Tara from her mother, probably to keep Tara more vulnerable.
It is clear now that Jason has completely bought into the Newlands' bull. I am convinced that they are setting him up to take the fall for their latest scheme, which most likely has something to with Godric's disappearance. If this is the case, Sookie is going to find Jason in the middle of the danger. I only hope that Sookie will be able to make him see reason. The Fellowship of the Sun is much more dangerous than I thought.
I still don't understand Daphne. What is her role in all of this? What is her connection to the creature? Does she turn into one? Did she witness Sam transform when he jumped in the lake or did she find out about him some other way?
Eric seems to have some other plans for Lafayette, who's doing much better after drinking Eric's somewhat potent blood. ;-) I'm not sure what they are, but maybe he's looking for another way to control Sookie, since he knows she cares about him.
I'm excited that Sookie found someone who can read minds just like her. I think that is going to be fun and interesting. I bet Barry will end up helping Sookie with solving the mystery.
On a completely different note, I just love how Hoyt calls Bill "Vampire Bill". I just think its awesome.

Episode 203: Scratches
I was happy to see that Jason started thinking for himself for about 5 minutes, but was very easily swayed…don’t know why I was surprised.
Loved the new monster in the woods, the fact that even Eric a 1000 year vamp had never seen anything like that is definitely a concern. Poor Sookie, it kind of sucks being a human when you’re constantly involved with the supernatural. This seems to be the worst encounter so far with the amount of pain she went through and foaming at the mouth. The most interesting thing was that Eric offered to feed Sookie his blood, but Bill wasn’t having any of that.
It was surprising to see the same claw marks on Daphne at the end. She’s turning out to be an interesting addition to Merlotte’s and looks like Sam’s got a new girl.
Well, it didn’t go down with Lafayette the way I expected. It was awesome when Sookie slapped Eric, I think he likes them spunky, those “breathers”. Glad she was able to negotiate to get him out of Eric’s dungeon, but Eric’s not done with him yet, so there’s still a chance he could be turned.
Tara finally started to see that something is off with Maryann. I don’t think Maryann will give her up without a fight. I expect Maryann to be driving wedges between Tara and those that care about her.
Jessica, was so cute, it seems like she genuinely likes Hoyt and he is totally taken with her. Maybe she will stop being such a brat now =)

What do you think Maryann really is?
You all weighed in on your guess as to what you think Maryann really is and the results are very interesting. It’s become really obvious that TruBlood.Blogspot Readers don’t really know what to make of Maryann after a three way tie on the latest poll.
Daemon, Goddess and Other all received 23% of the votes, while Witch was close too with 22% of the votes. Shape Shifter only received 8% of the votes.
The only conclusion from last week’s poll is; we definitely don’t think Maryann is a Shape Shifter.
** Last week’s poll received the most votes in the history of this blog, with over 100 participants! Thank you to our loyal readers who took the time to weigh in on the topic – U ROCK!
Be sure to vote on this week’s poll: WILL LAFAYETTE BE TURNED INTO A VAMPIRE?

Episode 202: Keep This Party Going
Before I say anything else about this week’s episode, I have to ask “Do I have blood in my hair?” I do have to admit that Eric’s make over is very nice. ;-)
Ok, now for the nitty gritty. I was very happy to see that Tara is a bit suspicious of Maryann, but I think Tara is going to find it very hard to pull away from her and move in with Sookie. I believe that Maryann will try to prevent it, maybe by driving a wedge between Tara and Sookie? Whatever her tactics, I’m sure she will try to keep her grip on Tara. At least, we finally got a peek into Maryann’s head thanks to Sookie. We didn’t learn much, but it was interesting to hear her true “accent”.
We finally got a closer look at the Fellowship of the Sun and all I can say is “wow, freaks”. I believe they have a different agenda then what’s apparent and their plans are starting to involve Jason, especially for Mrs. Newland. She definitely has her eye on him! It seems that Jason is still feeling guilty over what happened to Eddie. I’m wondering when his guilt is going to make him open his eyes to what he’s really getting involved in, but it is Jason we’re talking about so it could be a while. One thing is for sure, he’s going to have to watch out for the “Lukinator”.
Lafayette does not disappoint. Even when he’s in deep trouble, he’s still very amusing. And the thing with the metal in the leg, and when he started chewing on it!! I don’t think Eric will kill him, just think how much more entertaining he’ll be as a vampire…but I’m not so sure he’ll turn him into a vampire right away either. At the moment, he’s just a tasty snack.
We are starting to see the mystery unfold as Godric has gone missing, and that has Eric worried. Bill made a big mistake saying no to Eric’s request to have Sookie go to Dallas with him. I understand where Bill is coming from, but saying “no” will not prevent Eric from doing what he wants. All he did was give Eric a reason for not involving him in future problems.
The big cliffhanger of the night was obviously whether or not Bill is going to kill Jessica’s family. I highly doubt it. We already know that vampires can glamour humans into forgetting. This seems much more likely then Bill killing them. Besides, if he was just going to murder Jessica’s parents in order to “clean up”, there would have been no reason for him to stop Jessica in the first place.
Undoubtedly, Sookie is going to get a stern talking to from Bill, but I’m sure she’ll make it up to him. ;-)

Interviews with Alan Ball and Sam Trammell
Want to know some inside information from creator Alan Ball like what we we’ll run into with Bill and Sookie’s relationship and if Jason will be “good” all season? Check out this interview by clicking the link below. Warning, there are some spoilers.

Check out what Sam Trammell has to say about Twilight and the pressures of staying physically fit on a show that might call for you to get naked at any time. Also, there are some hints as to the future storyline with his character Sam Merlotte and Maryann.

Episode 201: NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD
Mmm.. Wow..the first new episode of True Blood didn't let us down...
Glad to see it wasn't Lafayette in the car, but that was quite a scene with Miss Jeanette missing her heart and all.
This episode opened up a lot of questions for the season. Like what the heck is Maryann up to with Tara and Eggs? And how does Sam tie into her plan? I have to admit it was pretty great when Maryann told off Tara’s mom!
What hasn’t changed is Jason is as stupid as ever...
The dungeon was totally creep-tackular, Lafayette may be alive but is in some deep sh**! But I think it really came down to the two scenes at the end, they were shocking, intense, and gory! Instead of naked Jason like normal we got naked Sookie with a bit more blood then I was expecting...followed by Eric coming downstairs to the dungeon with the foils and salon cape (I guess even the undead need a little help to look their best)...and then right into massive gooey bloody dismemberment...what a way to end the first episode! I was breathless and frozen on the couch.
If this is an example of what the new season has to offer I don't think we will be disappointed.
What did you guys think?

How Close Will True Blood Follow the Sookie Stackhouse Novels?
After finishing all the Sookie Stackhouse novels I can't help but wonder how close the HBO series is going to follow the novels. There are considerable differences so far in the first book to the first season of the show, how much will the two continue to differ?
Because I've read all the books, I'm hoping True Blood takes it's own path, if not, I've ruined the next 7 seasons of the show for myself by reading the novels.
A run down of the notable differences between Dead Until Dark and True Blood season 1 lead me to believe True Blood will not follow the Sookie Stackhouse series too closely:
Don't forget to participate in the Poll this week: Have you read the Sookie Stackhouse novels and potentially spoiled the next 7 seasons of True Blood for yourself?

A run down of the notable differences between Dead Until Dark and True Blood season 1 lead me to believe True Blood will not follow the Sookie Stackhouse series too closely:
- Jason gets involved with the Church of the Sun in the end of the television series, not in the book.
- Tara is not the same character in True Blood as she is in Dead Until Dark. In True Blood Tara is a very prominent character, not so much in the book.
- Maryanne Forrester, better known as the lady with the pig, is a Maenad who roams the woods in the books, yet she owns what looks like a mansion in the television series and it looks like she will have a more important role in True Blood than she did in the book.
- In the HBO Series, Sam knows Maryanne and seems to have some type of history with the Maenad, in the book he meets her for the first time when she comes to Bon Temps.

Sookie Stackhouse Book Series
After reading the first couple books in the Sooke Stackhouse series, I am totally in love with the idea of Sookie hooking up with Eric. After watching the first season of True Blood and reading the first couple books, the idea of Sookie being with Eric is something I'm kind of expecting. I guess I'm not the only one who is thinking this way, check out this article from Yahoo earlier this week:

Some people think Eric will come between Sookie and Bill, causing them to break up. Who do you want to see Sookie with? Are you Team Bill or Team Eric?
