Episode 207: Release Me

We got even more answers this episode. Maryann is a Maenad! A disciple of Dionysus, who is the god of excess and the bull head is a symbol of that god. She is able to incite hate and lust which we all know she is very good at. Maybe now that her identity is revealed we’ll move on from the sex scenes and get down to more interesting things.

We also found out that the traitor is Hugo. I didn’t see that one coming, but it always seems to be the quiet ones. He also unknowingly ratted out Jason. At least we got to see Jason defend Sookie. It’s the first smart thing we’ve seen him do since the season started. Sara looked so crazed when she went after Jason and shot him, but we if you saw the preview from Comic-Con (posted below) you know what happened there.

I was surprised to find out that Sookie can communicate telepathically over large distances. I didn’t know that her powers worked like that. Even more surprising is that Barry helped Sookie, but it seems like he got into some trouble now. He was pulled into a room by another vampire, but whom?

Andy didn’t fall under Maryann’s spell. Does that mean that he has supernatural powers? Daphne said that supernatural beings have immunity to her mind games. I was happy to see Daphne get her comeuppance, but why did Maryann choose Eggs to do her dirty work?

Unlike Bill, Eric is very attached to his maker. He doesn’t seem convinced that mere humans would be able to hold Godric.

Where did Godric come from? Why did he suddenly show up and help Sookie? Wasn’t he trapped by the Fellowship? I didn’t think that he’d be able to just move around of his own free will.

Looking forward to the war that’s going to breakout in next week’s episode. It will be nice to see the vampires kick some Fellowship of the Sun butt.

I think Maryann chose Eggs to do her dirty work because when she came back into Sookie's house all bloody and holding that rabbit, Tara afterwards said "she is so weird" and Eggs responded something like "I know isn't it great?" This implied that he doesn't see the bad in her... same a Daphne: Totally brainwashed. Tara sees it, Sam sees it... Clearly Eggs does not. So I think Maryann chose Eggs to kill Daphne.

I also think she killed Daphne because she knows that Daphne ratted out who she is to Sam and told him how supernatural powers are immune to Maryann's powers.

Also.... do you think Andy has supernatural powers of some sort? or do you think he just was able to stumble in and break the trance at the orgi thing?

Do we know why Sara shot Jason? and was he killed?

In the preview for next week, it looks like Sarah shot Jason with a paintball gun.

I too thought it was strange that Godric was able to rescue her. I imagined him being tied down with silver so he wouldn't escape.

Maybe he is there because he wants to be. Is he helping the church? But why would he do that?!?

I'm not sure Andy has supernatural powers, because I remember in one episode Marryanne was at Merlottes and she made Andy dance with everyone else, and before she came into town he was sober for like 9 years. He might though stranger things have happened.

Did it seem that Godric was blind in the previews for next week? Or somethings wrong with his eyes?

I see you didn't list Stan under favorite vampires for the poll. I'm glad.

Oh and since when can Sookie see the past? That's the first time that's happened....

I never really thought about the fact that Sookie saw what happened with Hugo. Maybe it's a new ability she has or maybe the writers got a little carried away and didn't completely think that through.

I assume Andy broke up the party when he fired his gun in the air.

Sookie can see people's thoughts they come in flashes. Last season Sookie was able to see (spoiler alert) flashes of Rene killing the other women. If she can connect with the person sometimes she hearts their thoughts other times she gets flashes or visions of things people have thought about or experiences they have had in the past.

I think Godric is probably bound by a curse or spell. That is why eric sacrifices himself to free him. As for Hugo it was odd to see the guy from Tremors get beat up. Jason should've beat that guy a lot longer then he did. Poor berry got pulled into the room by bill or lorena. I think it was bill because the lorena finally realizes why she let him go. What will bill do to eric? (or what CAN he do?) It seems we got the answers to some troublesome issues but not to the heart of things.

I can't wait to get this series here in Perth (Australia) but I'm content with following synopsis and blogs like this.

But my question is... Why does Maryann have such a strong interest in Sam?

We've been told that Maryanne can force the shifters to change shape. Why didn't she force Sam into some other (non-flying) form when he turned into an owl to fly away from her while she was chasing him?

I think that Eric has a certain fixation with Sookie that goes far beyond her being able to read minds. I wouldn't be surprized to see him try and get Bill out of the way to make a play for her himself.
